How do I play?
Players take turns, adding a single horizontal or vertical line between two unconnected adjacent dots. A player who completes the fourth side of a box earns one point and takes another turn. The game ends when no more lines can be placed. The winner of the game is the player with the most points.
How do I know whose turn it is?
The bottom status bar shows which player’ turn it is (by color) on the left side.
How do I know how many points (boxes) I have?
The score for both players is shown at all times on the bottom status bar, on the right side. Alternatively, you can just count the number of boxes that are your color on the board!
How do I create a line?
To create a line touch a dot, and then touch an unconnected dot adjacent to your first selection. DotBox will color the first dot you touch with your color, all valid adjacent dots will be highlighted with your color. Invalid (already connected) adjacent dots will be colored light gray.
I touched the wrong dot! How do I cancel the selection?
To unselect the dot, touch any other non-adjacent dot on the board.
In DotBox 1.1 and greater you may also cancel the selection by retouching the dot.
Warning! Touching an adjacent dot will create a line - touch carefully!
How do I know where the last line was placed?
In DotBox 1.1 and greater the dots that were connected by the last line are highlighted purple.
I screwed up! How do I undo my last move?
You don’t - choose wisely!
